Who says an electric car can’t be fast? The Chevrolet eCOPO Camaro concept fuses the performance muscle car enthusiasts want with the eco-friendly efficiency that environmentalists crave. And it can jet down a drag strip in as little as 9 seconds.
In its initial appearance, the electric Chevrolet Camaro tore down a quarter-mile strip in just 10.14 seconds. That was just at 80-percent power though. The engineers behind the electric model knew they could do better.
The electric Chevrolet Camaro concept features a powertrain that generates 700 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. The instant torque isn’t definitely impressive. After all, how often does a muscle car manage to pop a wheelie off the starting line?
Not only is the concept fast, but it’s also quiet, like most other electric vehicles. The 800-volt system is comprised of four 175-pound batteries located in the rear of the Camaro for enhanced stability.

2019 Chevrolet Silverado Engine Technology
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado has been completely redesigned. It will offer bold new styling, more premium features, and next-generation engine technology. This will include advanced V8 gasoline engines including the proven 5.3-liter and the 6.2-liter, both with Dynamic Fuel Management.
Dynamic Fuel Management
“Chevrolet first introduced its Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation system in 2005, and Dynamic Fuel Management is a natural progression of the technology,” said Jordan Lee, Small Block chief engineer. “Dynamic Fuel Management enables only the cylinders needed to deliver the power you want, seamlessly delivering the best balance of power and fuel economy.”
Active Fuel Management allowed an engine to switch between eight- and four-cylinder operation as needed. Dynamic Fuel Management, on the other hand, features 17 cylinder patterns. This helps maximize fuel efficiency and power use.
2018 Silverado Comparison
Compared to a 2018 Silverado with Active Fuel Management, a 2019 Silverado with Dynamic Fuel Management operates fewer than eight cylinders 9% more often.
The 5.3-liter V8 is rated at 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a Hydra-Matic eight-speed automatic transmission. For even more power, the 6.2-liter V8 offers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission. Both engines also come equipped with driver-selectable stop/start technology.
