2019 Chevrolet Silverado Engine Technology

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado has been completely redesigned. It will offer bold new styling, more premium features, and next-generation engine technology. This will include advanced V8 gasoline engines including the proven 5.3-liter and the 6.2-liter, both with Dynamic Fuel Management.

Dynamic Fuel Management

“Chevrolet first introduced its Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation system in 2005, and Dynamic Fuel Management is a natural progression of the technology,” said Jordan Lee, Small Block chief engineer. “Dynamic Fuel Management enables only the cylinders needed to deliver the power you want, seamlessly delivering the best balance of power and fuel economy.”

Active Fuel Management allowed an engine to switch between eight- and four-cylinder operation as needed. Dynamic Fuel Management, on the other hand, features 17 cylinder patterns. This helps maximize fuel efficiency and power use.

2018 Silverado Comparison

Compared to a 2018 Silverado with Active Fuel Management, a 2019 Silverado with Dynamic Fuel Management operates fewer than eight cylinders 9% more often.

The 5.3-liter V8 is rated at 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a Hydra-Matic eight-speed automatic transmission. For even more power, the 6.2-liter V8 offers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission. Both engines also come equipped with driver-selectable stop/start technology.

2019 Silverado’s Technology Take Trailering into the Future

Chevy Silverado

With the release of the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we are entering a new generation of truck, not just in style, but more importantly, in technology. The 2019 Silverado’s technology will make trailing and hauling easier, safer, and more intuitive, especially with the available Advanced Trailer System.

Advanced Trailer System

The Advanced Trailer System (ATS) will come standard on LTZ and High Country trims and will be optional on the LT, RST, and Trail Boss models. ATS will offer a variety of innovative features. For starters, it has hitch guidance with a hitch view built in to the backup camera. This will make lining up your hitch with the trailer so much easier.

Once you have the hitch lined up, the auto parking brake assist will activate so your Silverado does not roll slightly out of alignment when you put it in park. This turns on automatically while using the hitch view.

Tire Pressure Monitor

Another great feature is the trailer tire pressure monitor. Once some special equipment is installed on your trailer, you will be able to easily check the pressure and temperature of all the tires on your trailer. Just like with your truck, which tells you when the tire pressure is low, your trailer can do the same thing.

About the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Rally Edition

It’s not often you see a street-performance truck but Chevrolet is looking to change that. The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado was already a fully capable truck and with its most recent special edition, it’s getting a sportier look. Revealed with Dale Earnhardt Jr. behind the wheel at the Texas Motor Speedway, the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado Rally Edition will blow you away.

The Chevrolet Silverado Rally Edition packs a more custom look with a stripe package and contrasting black accents. Unlike in previous years, the door handles and mirrors are the same color as the body. Stripes also run from the front to rear.

Available in two stages, the Rally Edition will offer a custom look without the aftermarket price. The first variation rides on 20-inch wheels and offers the stripes, a locking rear differential, and trailering package. The second package brings tubular side steps, 22-inch rims, dual-zone climate control, a power driver’s seat, and remote start to the 2016 Silverado.

The Rally Edition joins the Midnight Edition and Realtree Edition on the special edition lineup. If the current trend continues, it’s likely this won’t be the last special edition we see.

“We introduced several special editions in 2015,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet truck marketing director. “They clearly resonated with buyers, selling in one-third the time.”

We here at H&H Chevrolet Cadillac are hyped that Chevrolet is offering a more custom look on an incredibly popular truck! In the meantime, see the Silverados on our lot!
