Spring is here, it’s time to clean
Spring is right around the corner, which means now is the time for cleaning. Warmer weather and more sunlight seems to give much more energy to clean their homes and cars. We’ve put together a list of spring cleaning tips to help you make the most of your time, working as efficiently as possible.
Tips for cleaning
According to Reader’s Digest, you should start from square one: the doormat. Welcome mats take quite a beating over the winter, leaving them dingy and brittle by the spring. We recommend shaking it out, washing it, or simply replacing it. A new door mat will really signal to visitors that your house is clean inside and out.
Next, clean the fabrics. This includes things like carpets and upholstery, as well as drapes or heavy curtains. Start by vacuuming, but don’t be afraid to rent professional carpet cleaners. You can also do this in your car—start by sweeping out nooks and crannies, and consider buying new air fresheners.
Next, wash the hard surfaces, including baseboards, walls, windows, and more. Dirt and dust can accumulate in these areas, leaving the room with a darker look and a musky smell. By washing hard surfaces, you’ll get rid of the fine dust that accumulates there. Dish soap and a clean towel are usually enough.
These rules also apply to your vehicle, so be sure to clean out your car as well. Now is also the perfect time for regular maintenance, so be sure to stop by H&H Chevrolet today.
While you are at it why not give a little extra TLC to your car by haveing its yearly maintenance checks! Check H&H Chevrolet Cadillac if you have any questions in regards to your vehicle service needs to keep it in top shape!
History On The Big Prank Day
There are many memorable April Fool’s Day pranks, and we here at H&H Chevrolet truly love this spring tradition. April Fool’s Day actually dates back the 1500s when the modern calendar was first introduced. Because many were still on the old system (which began in April), those who were up to speed played pranks on the fools who still celebrated the start of the year in the spring. Since then, this tradition has grown to become an international phenomenon.
Funny Pranks Galore
According to Deal News, one of the best pranks involves a paper cup and marker. Simply flip the cup upside down and write “spider underneath!” on the top (any similar phrase will work). Now you can leave it on someone’s desk, in a conference room, or around the house.
Another trick is to fill a sleeping person’s hand with shaving cream and to tickle their nose with a feather. As they react to the feather, their hand will smack their face—a hand full of shaving cream. This is a good prank for close friends, but be sure to choose your victims wisely! Not everyone enjoys being the butt of a joke.
Another great one involves simple gelatin. If you have a friend or family member who leaves drinks around the house, simply take their drink, add gelatin, and put it in the refrigerator before bed. This works best with cool aid. When they try to drink it the next day, they’ll be surprised to find a jell-like substance instead.
There so many other hilarious pranks and hoaxes, so be sure to leave a comment with your favorites below. Just be sure they are fun and safe!
If you’re in the market for a new vehicle you should come on down to H&H Chevrolet Cadillac and check out all our great deals! Now that is not a Prank, it’s legit!
Now that the weather is starting to warm up, it’s time to start getting your car ready for spring. Winter is harsh on your car, so it’s important to help it recuperate after the cold weather and ease it into the warmth. Here are some easy but important maintenance tasks you should do.
Get an oil change, and check your other fluids
If any are low, now is a great time to top them off. You may also want to have an inspection done and make sure all your belts, hoses, and so on are all intact. Get new windshield wiper blades, too, especially if you were using winter blades for the season.
Wash your car and clean it out
Make sure you get the underside cleared of any caked on dirt and mud, and vacuum or wash your floor mats. Your car will be happier and you’ll appreciate being in a clean environment.
Check your tires!
Make sure the pressure is correct and add or let out air if it’s not, and inspect them for worn tread or any signs of damage, like bulging and cracking. Give us a call at H&H Chevrolet and we’ll help you come up with a spring maintenance plan!
These days, Americans tend to think of St. Patrick’s Day as our national drinking holiday—we even invented green beer to celebrate it. But the history of St. Patrick’s Day is a lot deeper than that. It goes all the way back to St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, who lived in the 400s AD. He was a missionary in Ireland during the late fifth century and is said to be the founder of Christianity in Ireland.
Patrick was captured by pirates as a teenager and taken to Ireland as a slave, then escaped six years later and returned to England, his home country. He eventually became a cleric and went back to Ireland, and by the seventh century he was already thought of as the country’s patron saint.
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on the supposed day of Patrick’s death, and it’s a much more solemn holiday in Ireland than it is in the States. It is celebrated by the Irish diaspora worldwide as it celebrates Irish culture as well as the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and it’s one of the most widely celebrated holidays in the world.
Those of us at H&H Chevrolet hope you had a great St. Patrick’s Day!

Only about 8% of Americans who set New Year’s resolutions actually keep them. That’s why we’ve put together a list of statistically proven methods for increasing the likelihood that you keep your resolution. Whether you’re giving up smoking, junk food, bad driving habits, or something else, you’re bound to do better if you follow these simple tips.
According to WebMD, psychiatrists suggest exercising when you get the urge to cheat on your resolution. Keeping New Year’s resolutions is easier when you distract yourself from cravings—for cigarettes, junk food, or drinks, for instance—when you work out. In fact, this can increase the likelihood that you succeed by up to 27%.
Next, break up your resolution. If you’re trying to “get in shape” over the course of the year, it’s more realistic to set definitive goals. For example, try to quit eating junk food. Then, when that is mastered, try to drop five pounds. You get the idea. By breaking it up, it’s easier to succeed.
Finally, try to build a network of support. Start a resolution club with friends, or try to make your goals public. If you have other people watching and supporting you, you’re more likely to reach your goals and to keep resolutions. Plus, if you do fail, it’s always good to have friends and family around to help you persist.
The Christmas season is a time for bringing people together and there’s no better way to do that than by establishing some fun family Christmas traditions. Here are just a few that you can start with your family this holiday season.
Christmas is an exciting time, and one way to make it even more exciting is to begin a countdown to the big day. There are all kinds of calendars, boards, and other ways to keep track of the countdown.
Pick Out a Tree
Although some families prefer to use fake trees, other families swear by the tradition of visiting a tree farm each year to pick out their favorite tree.
Decorate the Tree Together
The Christmas tree is a symbol for a lot of different things, and it’s fun to allow your entire family to show their personality by decorating the tree together.
Another fun tradition that some families partake in is to send out a Christmas card each year with a nice (or funny) family photo.
No matter what you decide to do with your family, find a way to make it your own. Christmas is a great time for bonding with family and friends, so make the most of it.
As we approach the holiday season, there is nothing better than being surrounded by festive decorations and happy people. While decorating can be expensive, it doesn’t necessarily have to be. Here are some simple (and cheap) ideas for DIY Christmas decorations that will make your home cozy and festive.
Old Wine Bottles
Save a few of those wine bottles from the holiday parties, and turn them into decorations. Simply peel off the label, replace it with some nice ribbon, place a candle in the bottle, and you have yourself a nice centerpiece.
People tend to collect more ornaments than they actually need over the years, but you don’t have to put the extras back in the box. Find other places around your house to hang them (on wreaths, for example).
Candy is a great decoration that serves multiple purposes. Your guests have something to munch on, and it also looks great. You can fill dishes with colorful candies, and you can hang candy canes all around the house.
By getting creative with your holiday decorations, you will both save yourself some money and have a truly unique home for the holidays. Think outside the box this year, and impress your family and guests.
