Sunday, May 26, 2019, marks the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500. Proudly carrying the Bowtie Brand of Chevrolet into this premier event of the 2019 IndyCar Series is the two-time Formula 1 champion, Fernando Alonso.
Alonso’s McLaren Racing entry will feature a Chevrolet 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged direct-injected V6 IndyCar engine. The 134 cubic-inch engine has a road-street course horsepower rating of 675 mph. Since returning to the IndyCar series seven seasons back, Chevy’s V6 engines have claimed victories in 73 of 118 races.
Alonso himself has an impressive record with a seven-year win rating of over 70 percent. In addition to his F1 championships in 2005 and 2006, he has claimed 97 podium victories placing him sixth overall in the series. In 2006, Alonso claimed a victory in Monaco and earlier this year he won the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans. Should he take victory this year in the Indianapolis 500 he would be one of only two racers to ever claim victory in all three of these prestigious races known together as the Triple Crown of Motorsports.
Years of driving experience from Fernando Alonso combined with decades of Chevrolet engineering could see history made at this year’s 2019 Indianapolis 500. If you’re looking for the perfect car to take you to victory on your daily commute, contact us at H&H Chevrolet.

Hot chocolate is the drink of the season for a reason: when we come inside from the cold after building a snowman or making snow angels, hot chocolate warms us up, no matter what age we are. Make your winter adventures even more exciting with these fun hot cocoa upgrades.
Spice it up
One way to upgrade your hot chocolate is to add spices. You’ve had the pumpkin spice latte—why not try throwing some pumpkin pie spice in with your cocoa? Add cinnamon for more subtle flavoring, or even try cayenne pepper for a spicy kick.
Stir in herbs
Mint is the perfect herb to add to hot chocolate—just crush up a handful of fresh mint or even add peppermint extract to get that cool flavor alongside the rich cocoa. You can also try adding other dessert-friendly herbs, like basil.
Make it creamier
When it comes to hot cocoa, the creamier the better. Add a tablespoon of peanut butter, almond butter, or whatever your favorite nut butter is to make your hot chocolate super thick and creamy, without detracting from the flavor. You can even try adding some cookie butter to make it sweeter!
Of course, nothing beats the classic additions, like a bit of vanilla extract for that silky taste and an espresso shot or two to keep you from falling asleep by the fire as you watch the snow fall outside. (Don’t give this one to the kids, though!)

During the holiday season, many families look for ways that they can give back to their communities and help those in need. One program that has helped needy children for many years is Toys for Tots. The history of Toys for Tots dates back to 1947.
In 1947, Marine Corps Reserve Major Bill Hendricks started a program that supported children in need after his wife wanted him to donate her handmade dolls somewhere and he couldn’t find a suitable organization. In that year alone, Major Hendricks and his reserve unit in L.A. distributed over 5,000 toys.
After that success, the Commandant directed all Marine Reserve Sites to start their own Toys for Tots programs. In 1948, it became a national campaign.
As his civilian job, Bill Hendricks was Director of Public Relations at Warner Brothers Studios. Through his connections with friends and celebrities, he was able to help Toys for Tots grow even more. Walt Disney even designed the first Toys for Tots poster, which was officially adopted as the logo.
Make A Difference
Each year, on average, the Toys for Tots program gives out 18 million toys to 7 million children in need. If you want to support Toys for Tots, you can make a monetary donation online or drop off new toys at a drop-off location.
Here at H&H Chevrolet, we’re so happy that people are doing all they can to make Christmas bright for everyone in Shippensburg.
If you have ever had a problem with an Amazon package getting stolen off of your front porch, Chevrolet has a new solution. There is now in-car delivery from Amazon available at no extra cost for model year 2015 and newer Chevrolet owners with active Onstar® and Amazon Prime accounts.
“Partnering with Amazon to leverage our embedded in-vehicle connectivity gives Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac owners the option to conveniently receive deliveries inside their vehicle parked at home, work or near other locations in their Amazon address book,” said Alan Batey, President, General Motors North America.
How To Utilize
To utilize Amazon Key In-Car Delivery, you will need to download the Amazon Key app. Then, you will need to opt in to the service and link your Amazon and OnStar accounts. You can then register your preferred delivery locations. When you are shopping on Amazon, you would select the “In-Car” delivery option and select your desired location.
Your Updates and Security
When the delivery is on its way, you will receive a notification through the Amazon Key app. Then, you will get a second notification when the delivery is completed and your vehicle has been locked. Deliveries have to be made to cars parked in publicly accessible areas, like a parking lot or street.
If your Chevy isn’t new enough for in-car delivery, contact us at H&H Chevrolet for more information on our inventory.
Now that the holiday season is officially here, you probably have a lot of parties and family gatherings in your future. This usually means there will be food involved and you have to get that food from your house to the host. Here are a few tips on how to transport food in your car without spilling it.
For hot dishes, like casseroles, you will need a large cardboard box or laundry basket and a handful of towels. Fold up a towel and place it at the bottom of the box. Then, place the casserole dish on top of it. Roll up the remaining towels and place them snuggly around the dish. To keep the box from sliding around, put a rubberized mat underneath.
One of the easiest ways to transport a single pie is by placing an empty pie plate over top of the pie then sealing the edges together with aluminum foil. If you have more than one pie, place them next to each other on a baking sheet and wrap foil around both the pies and the baking sheet. Place the pies on a grippy surface in your trunk.
If you are bringing along small hors d’oeuvres or cookies and don’t want them to get squished together on a plate, place a kitchen towel on a baking sheet and then lay out your items on the towel. Wrap the entire baking sheet in plastic wrap.
If your vehicle needs some help to prepare for a long road trip, contact the service department at H&H Chevrolet for help.
2019 Chevrolet Silverado Engine Technology
The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado has been completely redesigned. It will offer bold new styling, more premium features, and next-generation engine technology. This will include advanced V8 gasoline engines including the proven 5.3-liter and the 6.2-liter, both with Dynamic Fuel Management.
Dynamic Fuel Management
“Chevrolet first introduced its Active Fuel Management cylinder deactivation system in 2005, and Dynamic Fuel Management is a natural progression of the technology,” said Jordan Lee, Small Block chief engineer. “Dynamic Fuel Management enables only the cylinders needed to deliver the power you want, seamlessly delivering the best balance of power and fuel economy.”
Active Fuel Management allowed an engine to switch between eight- and four-cylinder operation as needed. Dynamic Fuel Management, on the other hand, features 17 cylinder patterns. This helps maximize fuel efficiency and power use.
2018 Silverado Comparison
Compared to a 2018 Silverado with Active Fuel Management, a 2019 Silverado with Dynamic Fuel Management operates fewer than eight cylinders 9% more often.
The 5.3-liter V8 is rated at 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a Hydra-Matic eight-speed automatic transmission. For even more power, the 6.2-liter V8 offers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a Hydra-Matic 10-speed automatic transmission. Both engines also come equipped with driver-selectable stop/start technology.
We’re so excited about the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. Come talk to us at H&H Chevrolet to learn more about its special features.
With the release of the all-new 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we are entering a new generation of truck, not just in style, but more importantly, in technology. The 2019 Silverado’s technology will make trailing and hauling easier, safer, and more intuitive, especially with the available Advanced Trailer System.
Advanced Trailer System
The Advanced Trailer System (ATS) will come standard on LTZ and High Country trims and will be optional on the LT, RST, and Trail Boss models. ATS will offer a variety of innovative features. For starters, it has hitch guidance with a hitch view built in to the backup camera. This will make lining up your hitch with the trailer so much easier.
Once you have the hitch lined up, the auto parking brake assist will activate so your Silverado does not roll slightly out of alignment when you put it in park. This turns on automatically while using the hitch view.
Tire Pressure Monitor
Another great feature is the trailer tire pressure monitor. Once some special equipment is installed on your trailer, you will be able to easily check the pressure and temperature of all the tires on your trailer. Just like with your truck, which tells you when the tire pressure is low, your trailer can do the same thing.
